yuss

Yeah I do definitely like the way the plainness and sort of unimpressed timidness of the expression works to give exactly the feel you described, the simplicity of the way it's stylized really works great too. It kind of reminds me of the art style from Ghost World, or what I vaguely remember of it.

Pretty cool. This is one of the better level collab submissions IMO, too bad you cant keep the red background for it but it at least it still works on the white.

Aigis responds:

Well, as far as I know it's going to have a red background in the final thing. Only the red background will be the evil aura that you see on the levels.

RADICAL

This reminds me a bit of your self-portrait, as well as tekkon kinkreet, and mononoke (the series, not the movie). I like how the tentacles also have the same rhythm as the smoke, and again the use of texture layering, etc. It looks like you're really improving, you should keep pushing this style because it seems to be working for you.

Araelyn responds:

I haven't done a self-portrait yet o_O
Maybe you're thinking of the crinkly one with the girl that I drew on here? Or whaaaat?
Thanks so much though! Glad to hear that I'm improving :P

That's rad, I've always wondered why more flash games (especially point and click) don't involve more detailed atmospheric art like this. Ima play the hell out it when its finished, son.

hm!

Reading some of the comments about your treatment of the left leg position, and your responses about the intent with the viewing angle, I'm pretty sure that you actually did approach most of the character's positioning and angle right... the torso could've been leaned back a little more which would've helped with suggesting that we're viewing it from below, though I really do think it's fine the way it is.

What would help the most with inferring the viewpoint would be the character's relation to other objects, especially if there were a background to contextualize things or other characters/objects in the background/foreground to relate the focus to.
It can be really hard to show certain things like that without context, even when you do manage to nail the parts you're after.

I think you did a good job though.

Hahaha, this is awesome.

I don't know the show in question at all, but the reference of the blurred tentacle ends is enough to seal the joke anyways.

On a separate note, it kind of keeps me wondering (and yes that's KEEPS not MAKES) if I should just start making and submitting hentai to the portal. Hmmm

Thumbs up

Probably the best of your stuff on NG so far, I really like the harder graphic (stroke-like) outline that you use to set your characters off from the backgrounds, in this as well as some of your others.
Most of all I find that the action gesturing with the brushwork really works here, especially in ken's fireball.

ts3ts3 responds:

Thanks for the comments. For this I used a brush and ink when i drew it. I guess you can tell.

hahaha

WTF, so demented in a subtle way. I like it.

Araelyn responds:

Thank you! Demented is my middle name!
Well, actually I have two middle names, the other one is Insane.
