Nicely done guys

Awesome tribute, totally fitting

The SMB2 reference at the first autosave point pretty much made my day. Pretty much.

Awesome

I loved the atmosphere, and in a lot of ways, I think flixel was definitely the right way to achieve this. I was glad to be able to your notes after getting all of the endings, brief as they were I'd say they sum up everything that I loved about this.
The use of the small character to establish the idea of a huge, barren landscape with enormous land markers was excellent, and reminds me (somehow?) of games like Shadow of the Colossus or shorts like The Diary of Tortov Roddle.
I think I've found this somewhat inspiring, thank you.

Really nice smooth control and graphics, interesting idea too. Not a lot of variation from the very beginning but I'm just getting into it and I can tell that this has potential to get crazy difficult. Nice work!

LOL @ this having both medals and visible reviews while under judgement.

HAH

Pretty good, really challenging but the ability to rank yourself on the high score board against others keeps it kind of interesting... I like that your games are hard, but not TOO hard.
(For anyone having trouble running it, be sure to click the "dim the lights" button, this game is somewhat more graphics intense and NG flash ads can interfere.)

jeez

My favorite game on NG at the moment already, after 5 minutes of play.
Is this a Po3 game? Medals whut?
LOVE the retro-ness of it and the levelling up system is not only very thorough, but a great idea. The non-linear nature of the world succeeds where so many others have failed in attempting the same.
SO. GOOD.

Not a power of 3 game. I didn't even realise one of the people I was working with -HAD- a Newgrounds account. I'm glad you are enjoying the game :)

'Casual', yes... but 'relaxing'? Absolutely not.

Not to mention really, really weird and pretty annoying.
But, the controls and everything work fine, there aren't any technical flaws that I've noticed.

Not a bad call to make it so that only one highscore per IP would be possible. As of this review, I hold the highest score at 22,000ish. As weird as THAT is, if anyone beats it I'll be super disturbed.

Thank You for review redminus!
During test I had to play it millions times, so You can try beat my 35k score...:)

dude

the best part about this game might very well be how angry people are getting over it.
also some recent bitching about ads is also hilariously misplaced. are we to assume that developers are to create without compensation? anyways....

as someone else said, there is at least one video of it being beaten on youtube so it IS possible.
what i like about this is that it reminds me of games i used to play as a kid.

now, im kind of old (like TOM FULP OLD), when i say "games i played as a kid" i mean like NES and in some cases, atari or intellivision. THOSE games required a lot of patience, discovering the exact patterns of enemy movements in order to bypass them and the right timing for jumps or running through dangerous areas, et cetera. i suppose the technological limitations of the day made developers lean towards making games more challenging in order to make the playing times longer for people? i dunno
in any case, this game is as retro conceptually as it is visually. the controls as well, i should mention, are pretty smooth and very appropriate for the genre. in fact, a lot of games like this from the late 80s had shittier response, so people should stop bitching about being unable to get the hang of it.

people will probably rate my review as useless (even though it contains relevant feedback and observations) just because they dont like it, and thatps probably because the current generation's idea of gaming is more in line with their prevailing need for immediate gratification.

Whatever, man. this shit is mad retro. This game is great.

really, really good.

excellently smooth controls, great sound and visuals. a simple concept with just enough extra to it to keep it interesting for the short duration of the game too. really great integration of the character and environment graphics into the engine.

i was pretty amped when i found the wings, if you were ever to make a longer version of a same or similar idea, it would be great to add in more control enhancements like that as powerups (a la metroid, somewhat?)

the only thing i felt that the game was missing was the ability to 'flag' areas that youve been to, so that you could keep track of the secret passages that you've found for those who want to find all the items. either by making searched areas appear on the map, or by making it possible to leave a marker for yourself.

in any case great game, best flash platformer i've played so far.

omgz

possibly the best graphics i've seen on NG in a game, balancing simplicity with style and achieving a great sense of feel. a fun game if you're in the mood for this type of thing, but 10/10 5/5 for the look and feel alone.
