I love the style of this... for a lot of my stuff I use raster backgrounds too so I definitely get how difficult it can be to blend the flash vector characters in with the photoshop-painted scenery. I think you did a pretty good job of it, the pigeons (for example) stand out but only as much as a character should stand out from the background, and actually were maybe inadvertently a good way of introducing the second visual style slowly, so that by the time we see the two main characters they don't seem out of place.
Your pans were great as well and the opening few shots really gave a nice sense of depth., good subtle use of the blur filter, and so on.
Unlike a lot of the other reviewers I actually read your description and can't knock you for your short time or simplicity of story, but the only criticism I would have is that the old man's face at the end seemed a bit "pasted on"... like, when you changed his expression, it was the only thing on the character that was FBF at the time so it sort of stood out a bit and broke the illusion for me for a moment.. but then again it seemed less suspicious on a second watching. So I dunno.

Great action and dynamics, but what really did it for me were the little asides in subdued tones and the momentary break cued to intermission music. All around awesome.

its unfortunate that irony and juxtaposition are lost on some people. Like that dude down there, whomever he is... obviously you've improved since this, but this was a good defining work and as a short flash was probably a great practice for the things that you would do later. Obviously you've done better since, but as this was one of your earlier animations (on NG at least), the fact that you garnered almost 25,000 views so far and people STILL continue to review it should mean something to you. Keep up all the good work, dude
